Identifying Users

In order to accurately identify good candidates:

  • A standardized reading test should be administered under normal conditions and in conjunction with the Reading Scholar®.
  • If significant improvements in standard scores or age/grade equivalents are exhibited with the Reading Scholar®, the individual is considered a good candidate.

Note : Test with, Test without, then determine if candidate is good.

Research

First Study: Rastatter et al., 2007

  • 27 students
  • 6th grade
  • Diagnosed using Woodcock Reading Mastery Test – Revised.
  • Study length: Feb. 2005 – Apr. 2005

Conclusion:

Children with reading disorders exhibited significant  improvement in reading comprehension while using the Reading Scholar.

Second Study: Carter et al., 2009

  • 30 College Students
  • Diagnosed using Test of Word Reading Efficiency.
  • Study length: Jan. 2008 – Mar. 2008

Conclusion:

Adults with reading disorder exhibited significant  improvement in reading comprehension while using the Reading Scholar.

Third Study, Spring 2011

  • Dillard Academy
  • Charter School
  • Goldsboro, N.C.
  • 16 students with reading disorders
  • Diagnosed using Test of Word Reading Efficiency
  • Study length: 9 weeks

Conclusion

Children with reading disorders exhibited significant increase in reading comprehension. As you can see, we are getting the same positive results after 9 weeks. The cap between with and without the Reading Scholar is almost equal. This is the result you are looking for.

Fourth study, Spring 2012

  • We tested students from 3 different schools in this study from 4th & 5th grades
  • 39 students with reading disorders
  • Study length: 4 Weeks
  • Grey Oral Reading Test - 4th Edition (GORT-IV)used for identification.

Conclusion:

After using the Reading Scholar for 4 weeks on these 39 students we saw a vast improvement. We now see that the students are reading and comprehending  about the same with and without the Reading Scholar. This is the result that you want to see.

  • Grey Oral Reading Test - 4th Edition (GORT-IV)used for identification.
